New Zealand born & bred, International Make Up Artist Michael Ashton is part of a new generation of talent already making their mark on the fashion, beauty and celebrity circuits.

Having worked the show circuit around the globe for the past four years, Ashton now resides in London, and is represented by Martin Weston at boutique management agency “MY-Management”.

Starting his career nine years ago as a senior stylist and part of the Stephen Marr Artistic team, Ashton quickly forged a name for himself in the New Zealand hairdressing industry as one of its most promising young talents. He just as quickly succumbed to the allure of the fashion world, and is now a permanent fixture on the international circuits, creating the images that had flashed before him on the pages of “Vogue” – an obsession that dates back to childhood.

His first foray into fashion/make up was shooting the international campaign for groundbreaking New Zealand label Nom*D, and just weeks later Ashton was appointed as key make up director for ID-Dunedin, Wellington Fashion Festival and numerous shows at New Zealand Fashion Week.

As he crossed paths with some of the most influential names in the industry Ashton set his gaze abroad; first to New York, where he worked alongside the M.A.C Pro team, and then to Europe - Germany, Paris, Milan and finally London. From his London base, Ashton works with the likes of Val Garland and Dick Page, people whose creativity continually feeds his imagination.

This imagination, coupled with precision and attention to detail, is what has made him so sought after, whether it’s producing looks for editorial, music and beauty, or collaborating with Hollywood actress for those red carpet moments.

Ashton’s work has appeared in such revered titles as: POP, Dazed & Confused, Interview, Marie Claire, Glamour, AnotherMan and Arena. He’s shot campaigns for luxury brand Moet & Chandon and an illustrious celebrity list that has included Elle McPherson, Neve Campbell, Ellen Pompeo, Natasha McElhone, Saffron Burrows, Daisy Lowe, Jamelia and Girls Aloud.
