Winner of the 9th Annual Avant Guardian Competition

My name is Francesca Tallone. I was recently named one of the 9th annual Avant Guardians by Surface Magazine!

The issue is out 31 October 2006. You can see the cover of it in my showcase, along with the images that were featured in the winner issue.

Every year, Surface Magazine holds a competition searching for the best emerging fashion photographers in North America. You submit a portfolio, and based on that portfolio, you get chosen as one of 12 semi-finalists, and then get to reshoot the portfolio using designer clothes, models and studios. Your portfolio is then resubmitted to Surface, who then picks the top 8 for publication in the Avant Guardian Issue. This year, I am one of the top 8 - and the only girl!
