style	Incognito Paris trendspotter uniform. Olive drab military jacket & jeans, worn with black or white wink-winks at whatever's in zee air. What is on my feet depends on the time of day or temperature. Mat black or faded gold Birkenstock mules if a heat wave is on. Black patent ballet flats with velvet ribbon and bow by Minelli when less hot. These can even be worn in the rain. Sadly...Que lastima...Quel dommage...! My brand-new super-soft black suede low boots are NOT waterproof...!

favorite designers / brands	Jean Paul Gaultier and the new Nouvelle Vague of young designers rising to the challenge of Central Saint Martins supremacy

least favorite designers / brands	Too aware of how difficult it is even to be bad at something to list anybody in this category

music	Am nostalgic about new millennium trip hoppers Archive etc... Absolutely luved the French Touch launch party of the Emporio Armani store in Saint Germain des Pres... Torn between experimental music along the lines of Pierre Henry and anything that brings out the incurable romantic in me from Gustav Mahler to jazz and blues greats to Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen, Sade... to fun Frenchies such as Camille (Je vais prendre ta douleur), M and Emilie Simon... When in zee mood for a bit of rough, I listen to Louise Attaque, a French band that owes its name to Paris commune pasionara Louise Michel. Also warm to urban or should that be urbane sound with a South American twist, Paris Combo, Gotan Project... Could go on for ever...!! Have plugged into The Citizens Band www.thecitizensband.net thanx to Citizen K... On page 90 of our Summer 2007 edition, there's a showbiz spotlight focusing on them / Par Georgina Oliver / Photo Tony Duran / Direction Artistique Kappauf / Coordination Samuel C. Plouchart...

films	My current obsession. Am contributing a chapter to a book about Crimes against women titled Women and the New Wave of Screen Violence that take its cue from new-style films noirs along the lines of Quentin Tarantino's two-part revenge saga Kill Bill and Luc Besson's 1990 thriller Nikita...

literature	Lit, what's SCAREE about it is the way so many great ideas get remixed. We re-invent plays within plays like Shakespeare, Emma Bovarisms etc etc... Nineteenth century poet MALLARME started a fashion and poetry mag featuring a column dubbed Pink Satin. He's my hero...

art	An aficionada of URBAN slash street art, from Lascaux to Miss Tic... Having started out as an extremely precocious art critic, over the years, I've had the good fortune to interview various A-list artists from Francis Bacon to Jean Dubuffet. A more recent arty interviewee? Sophie Calle, representing France at the Venice Biennale... Took a picture of her at the French Pavilion on June 7, No.23 in my showcase... Another culture shock? In Paris, at the THEATRE DES BOUFFES DU NORD... Zee reprise of PASO DOBLE, the fantastic BARCELO-NADJ art-into-dance performance, premiered at the Avignon arts fest...

sports	Swimming. Tennis. Skipping (like a boxer)... Sports keep body'n'mind in synch.

travels	Still not over an intense Venice experience... Was there for the 2007 Biennale & a wedding at the Cipriani. Next major destination ? Shanghai, for the Art Fair, hopefully...

other interests	Dance. Experimental ballet. Hip hop... Anything from Diaghilev to Pina Bausch and beyond. Also have a soft spot for flamenco and fado...

often seen in	Badges are my signature, wear them round my kneck with my press passes and keys. Was particularly fond of a bright pink XXL one promoting Paris Capitale de la Creation... Sadly, it fell off!

never caught dead in	I like skirts but they don't like me... Mini skirts look fine with tights or leggins. Cool long skirts are as easy to wear as jeans, but dowdy skirts, just below the knee make me look like a bow-legged blue-stocking. Likewise, I like high heels but they hate me. Can't walk in them to save my life...

Among her many early Millennium "Minutes of Fame" ... Appearing on France 24, France's 24H International news channel broadcast in three versions (French, English, Arabic), in a Three Minute Fashion Special about Parisian blogs (with Rebecca Leffler of La Fleur de Paris and Kamel Lahmadi of Style and the City Paris). Radio tributes to French beauty and style celebs, from Yves Saint Laurent to Yves Rocher... and before that, Two Minutes on BBC World News, following a London Fashion Week report, when George Alagaya asked her to comment on the future of Haute Couture...

Ongoing creative kick?? Photographing neo-pop still-lifes incorporating press kits, fashion paraphernalia, personal memorabilia etcetera...

Georgina OLIVER is a Paris-based arts'n'style correspondent, who dreams of producing an alternative TV show (focusing on fashion, new sounds and the visual arts).

In association with French television producer-presenter, Pascal Mourier, she started to develop a project along these lines (dubbed Da Scary Fashion Show) via an event concept (Da Scary Fashion Show soirees on camera) & Da Scaree Fash Post (her zany fashion slash art slash music blog, written in franglais with a splash of spanglish), BUT (as the saying goes) "Time is money" and neither of them has the time to seek sponsors...

At the helm of the Anglo-American Press Association of Paris on several occasions (as President and co-President)...

G.O.'s seriously varied anti-career includes a flamboyant art critic period, 10 years of hard & fast reporting for TIME-Life, trendspotting at the Paris Voice city magazine, as well as book & television assignments. As Editor In English adaptations of Citizen K International, she conjures up the English headlines of this fab glossy quarterly, which publishes profiles and interviews of artists and celebrities (Naomi Campbell, Pharrell Williams, Nicole Richie, Asia Argento, Paul Smith,...) she pens in French.

A member of transatlantic fashion and beauty blog community Coutorture and self-avowed Iqons freak, Scaree Gee-Oh! (This is her blogger's pseudonym) says: "I love being an Iqonian. It brings out the talent scout in me!" Among her Iqons discoveries... NYC-adopted Parisian style stalker, Kamel Lahmadi (portrait name Style & personnality / note French-style spelling with two n's), who's launching a palm-sized print X-tension of his X-cellent street fashion blog Style and the City - Paris (www.styleandthecity/com.blog).

Why supawrita? "Because my name was already taken. There are several Georgina Olivers on the Web. There's even a town in Canada named Georgina."

A serial moonlighter, this Georgina has always cashed in on her bicultural background (mother French, father British)...

In June 2007, Random House launched Sandrine's Paris, the companion to a BBC series presented by Sandrine VOILLET (a French art historian). Promoted as 'a cultural history of the most romantic city in the world' edited by Georgina OLIVER, Sandrine's book was a huge success (reaching the UK's top 25 non fiction best-seller list).

Her idea of a fun overnight job? Adapting into English the voice-overs of cool 3-minute Haute Couture Fashion Week clips (conceived by Da Scary Fashion Show associate, Pascal Mourier) broadcast by France 24 on the following morning.

Officially, Gee-Oh! doesn't 'do' translation anymore. Why? 'Because I've found that if magazines or production companies hire you as a translator, they don't think of you for anything else (writer, reporter, producer, presenter...). Translations are a bit like haircuts... People always need translations. So, you're rapidly snowed under with translating...!'

On the professional front, Scaree Gee-Oh! alias Georgina Oliver's status as an Iqonian ("Whatever happens") reflects her present ("open") state of mind... On vacation in the South of France, in the summer of 2007, she pursued a blog-buzz X-periment with a member of her Iqons entourage, Eric Maillard of faux tabloid slash fashion blog MaillardHebdo (Not to be confused with Parisian media wizz Eric Maillard formerly with Ketchum, now Head of Ogilvy PR... "It's only the same name")... "Above all, I'm fascinated by the way the blogosphere is evolving, particularly by the push and pull between print press and online trailblazers"
